TEMPO International - Naples Chapter meets monthly. The meetings alternate between luncheons and after-work socials. The noon luncheons are the 3rd Wednesday of the month at the Registry Resort Hotel Dining Room and cost $21.00. The evening socials are on the 2nd Wednesday of the month at a business members' office or home. As the meetings are meant to provide networking opportunities, the Naples Chapter has decided not to have guest speakers, but to utilize the time to get to know each other. |

With the primary goal of networking, Tempo International shall provide a professional environment which enriches the individual member and the local and international community through selected business and professional programs and projects focused upon the support, mentoring, and empowerment for women leaders.
The purpose of TEMPO INTERNATIONAL is to create a worldwide, non-profit organization and strengthen the talents of women by:
Tempo International - A Short History Twenty years ago a few enterprising women had a great idea - TEMPO. In 1994, it was time to take it on the road. TEMPO is too good an idea not to extend beyond its Milwaukee roots and even beyond the continental United States, hence the name TEMPO International. If TEMPO could be a resource for the professional development of women in Milwaukee, it could be a benefit for women in other cities as well. If the TEMPO network fostered communication among women in Milwaukee, imagine a network encompassing contacts around the nation and around the world. A network that stops at city's borders is not adequate for leaders in the 21st century. An international network was the logical extension of TEMPO's mission, and a necessary one if Tempo is to continue to meet the needs of its members in a changing world. Local chapters provide the programs, mentoring, and one-on-one networking TEMPO is known for, and these chapters are linked to each other through TEMPO International. The structure of TEMPO Milwaukee, with some fine-tuning, was the model for TEMPO International bylaws and for local chapters. It was essential that the TEMPO vision and mission be maintained. New chapters adopt standard by-laws in keeping with the Milwaukee model. If an existing organization in a particular locality wishes to be part of the TEMPO International network, it must have bylaws that are substantially similar to TEMPO Milwaukee's in promoting the professional advancement of women. Local organizations, intended to be linked to each other, cannot happen overnight. First, these organizations must be established by individuals familiar with and committed to the TEMPO vision. Until there can be representatives from other cities with that perspective, the founders felt it was important that early leadership come from Milwaukee. Thus, the bylaws of TEMPO International provide that for the first six years of its existence, TEMPO Milwaukee will elect 12 members of the 18 member board. After six years, the TEMPO International board will be elected by its membership and will presumably represent the diverse nature of its constituents at that time. The heart of any international organization is its local chapters, and the chapter development committee has compiled a start-up kit for individuals wishing to create chapters in their locals communities. It contains model bylaws, a TI roster, sample local newsletters, the history and mission of TEMPO, and detailed instructions for organizing and running a TEMPO chapter. Continuing support in chapter programming and membership development is ongoing. Since 1994 when TEMPO International, it has incorporated, has a board of directors and eight TEMPOs. The first global conference was on Marco Island, Florida, a short hop from our Naples chapter, and featured Elizabeth Dole as the keynote speaker. With this short but promising history, we look forward to the continued expansion of TEMPO's vision throughout the United States and the world.
