Collier County Education Foundation
The Collier County Education Foundation is a not-for-profit organization, incorporated in 1990, whose initial mission was to find, recognize, reward, honor, and encourage exceptional teachers in Collier County Public Schools. The Golden Apple Teacher Recognition program has honored five recipients each year and raised many dollars that have been used to foster and fund programs designed to pass along the expertise and teaching techniques of such outstanding teachers. Over 75 local businesses contribute annually to this program.
How are the dollars raised through Golden Apple used? The Foundation provides $30,000 each year to teachers to fund creative, innovative classroom projects in the Mini-grant for Teacher program. There is another $20,000 administered in the form of a Technology Grant for Teachers. Teachers are given the opportunity to attend a Summer Collegium at South Sea Plantation and receive CEO treatment and professional development. One of the exciting new projects initiated by the Foundation in the fall of 1993 was a Partners in Education program. The mission of this program is to strengthen the future work force and enhance work ethics in Collier County by developing business/community/education partnerships that will enrich the curriculum and ensure quality education.
No business or civic organization is too big or too small to serve as a partner. Partners in Education asks for your donation of time, talents and resources. The Collier County Education Foundation, along with the Partners in Education Board of Trustees, invite you to learn more about the Foundation and its programs and to join with other business leaders who are choosing to make a contribution to our community's future.
