WELCOME TO THE COLLIER COUNTY MUSEUM!
From ancient fossils and vibrant Indian civilizations,
to the rustic charm of our early towns and trading posts,
you'll discover the everyday events and pioneer-spirited people
that shaped the future of Florida's last frontier.
Established in 1977, the Collier County Museum preserves and interprets
the history, archaeology and development of south Florida. Today,
the original facility has grown to a five-acre historical park
offering a full range of educational exhibits, family activities
and cultural programs. These include:
PERMANENT EXHIBIT HALL: Newly developed artifact
displays, video programs and three-dimensional dioramas trace
over 10,000 years of local history and explain the people, places
and events that shaped modern Collier County.
DISCOVERY COTTAGE: A 1926 Naples home, rescued
from demolition and now fully restored, gives an accurate look
at family life in early Collier County and serves as the centerpiece
for an exciting, hands-on learning experience for younger museum
LOGGING LOCOMOTIVE: Built by the Baldwin Locomotive
Works around 1910, "Steam Engine #2" is a favorite attraction,
as well as an important reminder of the County's cypress-logging

Dr. Frank C. Craighead features a teaching garden of tree and
plant communities native to the South Florida environment.
