
It is interesting to note the enormous
historical significance of one of our
'ancestral cousins". Jean Cloutier the second son of Zacharie Cloutier and one of the 'builders' of Chateau Richer. Jean married Marie the daughter of Abraham Martin. Martin was a remarkable man in his own right. Not only was he a contemporary of Zacharie Cloutier I the father of Jean, he was also known as
who was a river boat pilot on the St. Lawrence.
In the archives of "The Dames
Ursulines", are the titles of two farms that he owned. The historical status of the two farms did not really take place until long after his death. On September 12th 1759, a young British General,
