Josette Clutchey was the second daughter of Jean Francis Cloutier and Charlotte Salois. According to some of the censuses, Josette was born in Quebec around 1830. She moved with the family until they arrived in Borelia, Ontario. As previously mentioned, it was believed that her older sister Rosalie, born in 1827, either died, married or was otherwise left behind when Jean and Charlotte came to Ontario in 1857. However, further research proved that........
Josette, along with her husband Frank LaChapelle, whom she married when she was 16, stayed with the family. At the time of 1861 census, Josette and Frank had five living children, and one had died. Their children are listed below the photos:

No further information has been found for Arilla. Of the eleven children in the LaChapelle family, ten were girls and the only boy, John died as an infant. The baptisms of Julie (Jewell) and Matilda are the earliest records we have of Josette's family. St. Joseph's church in Beaverton, Ontario, has these two records which give the following information:
On February 15th. 1856, Josette and Frank's daughter, Julie (also called Jewel) LaChapelle, was born at Port Perry. On January 26th. 1858, she was baptized with John Clouttier (sic) and Charlotte Clouttier (sic) as sponsors.
On the same day, their daughter, Domitille (also called Matilda and Tillie) LaChapelle, born Port Perry, on September 20th. 1857, was baptized with John Clouttier (sic) and Charlotte Clouttier (sic) as sponsors.

| On November 26 2002 the Webmaster Dave
Clutchey received the following information from Michelle Cloke Neuffeld, great great granddaughter of
Adeline LaChapelle. Adelines third marriage as noted above was to
Albert Raymer. The marriage produced three children one of whom was
Laura Raymer. Michelle informs us that Laura married Wilbert
Branscombe settling in the Niagara, Ontario region. They had five
children one of whom was Michele's grandmother Margaret. Margaret in
turn married William Cloke of Anyox, British Columbia and settled in and
around the Niagara-Burlington area. Margaret and William had five children
one of whom was Brian Cloke , Michele's father. Michele's mother was
Barbara Derry of Hamilton. The Clokes lived all across Canada,
settling finally in York region. Michele herself is married to Bryce
Neufeld and they live in Newmarket, Ontario.
Marie (Madden) Towells great granddaughter of Adeline Lachapelle from Adelines first marriage to Noah Madden, supplements the information above by informing us that Adeline Lachapelle died on Jan 12, 1934 and is buried in St. Catherines at Victoria Lawn Cemetery. Laura Branscombe, daughter of Adeline, died in 1960 and is buried in the same cemetery as her mother. Wilbert it appears, died in Massachusetts, USA. In a subsequent E-mail received November 27 2002, Marie reports that information from the 1901 census shows Laura M. Ray(h)mer was born May 24 1890 . Her brother Albert Jr., June 10 1983 and sister Violet August 10 1984. A step son was William Brown, presumably the son of Adeline's second husband whose name was Brown. William is buried under the name William Rahmer in the protestant cemetery in Orillia. William is listed as being 'Scotch' hence his father must have been from Scotland. The Rahmers (sic) are all listed as Dutch and Adeline , French. Clarence Madden is listed as being English it should be Irish. |
The Webmaster acknowledges and appreciates the contributions of Michele Neufeld and Marie Towells
Nothing is known of this couple at the present time>
