This web site is dedicated to

Auxiliary Vessels Ferry Crew #5

of which I was a part for almost two years and the

USS Adirondack AGC-15

on which I served during my last days in the Navy at the end of WW2.

I have long wondered what happened to the ships on which I served during my days in the Navy and only recently found a site which gave me much such information. I decided I would give both my old crew, with whom I shared 17 voyages on as many ships, and my last and only permanent duty ship, The Adirondack, a real presence on the Internet and see if any from those original crews would come visit. If any do I would appreciate e-mail so we can exchange information.

A contact from anyone having served in Auxiliary Vessels Ferry Crew #5 would be especially appreciated. We might get together at Pappy's Bar in Mobile for a beer and "talk about the good old days." Hopefully the beer would be better then the Mexican stuff we had to drink in '43 and '44.

I have a photo of the crew taken while we were at Alabama Drydock barracks which I will post here as soon as I get it scanned. It can only recall a few of the names. Help me!

Footnote: Alas, since I wrote the above I took a trip back to Mobile to visit the USS Alabama (which now sits about a half mile east of where our old barracks was) and Pappy's is no longer. They've torn it down along with many other buildings at the foot of Government Street... a renewal project it would seem.
