The project will include the construction of an aquaculture farm on the campus of Everglades City School. The first Aquaculture harvest for Everglades City School will be shrimp, a very quick maturing shellfish with a high market demand.

The system is made of four, 3000 gallon tanks. The first tank is a holding tank which is filled only with clean salt water. The second tank is the farm tank and holds the shrimp. The next tank is filled with mullet-fish that live on the small organisms and residue food like that which will be rich in the flow water from the shrimp tank. The mullet act as a first-stage natural water purifying system. The next tank will be filled with clams and oysters. These mollusks also act as a filtering system, living off micro-organisms from the mullet tank flow water. From the mollusk tank, the water will be pumped back into the holding tank.
